About the zine
“W.I.T.C.H. Behind the Veil” fanzine is a non-profit charity project that will immerse you in familiar plots that could’ve happened in a completely different way. All funds raised are directed to help Ukrainian female soldiers.
The main theme of the zine is exploring the alternative timelines and events of the “W.I.T.C.H.” animated series. The project included a printed magazine, stickers, a tote bag, acrylic stands and a keychain. Multiple Ukrainian creators take part in the project including writers and artists working together creating new plots and illustrating them.
Артзбірка «W.I.T.C.H. Історії за Завісою» — це некомерційний благодійний проєкт, що занурить вас у знайомі сюжети, які могли б розгорнутися зовсім по-іншому. Усі зібрані кошти спрямовані на допомогу жінкам-військовослужбовицям.
Головна тема збірки — альтернативний розвиток подій мультсеріалу «W.I.T.C.H.». У проєкт ввійшли: друкований журнал, наліпки, шопер, акрилові стенди та дармовис. Проєкт побудований на співпраці письменників та художників, які разом вигадували та зображали нові сюжети та події.
Concept
From Kandrakar, a magical dimension at the center of the Universe, the Kandrakar’s Book of Fate was stolen. The wise Oracle wrote down in this book the fate of the Guardians, his prediction, and all the variants of events that could and could not happen. And although fate unfolded in a way known to us, the book contains other variants and timelines—real and unreal.
A group of conspiracy theorists from Earth who believe in the Guardians, in their search came across the smuggler Blank, who had stolen the book. Having exchanged the Kandrakar’s Book of Fate for two paper clips and a lollipop, the company of conspiracy theorists decided to spread the information they found about the history that did not exist.
З Кандракару, магічного виміру у центрі Всесвіту, викрали Книгу долі Кандракару, у яку Оракул, головний член Ради Кандракару, записував долю Чарівниць, усі його віщування, усі варіанти розвитку подій, які могли статися і не статися. І хоча доля склалася відомим нам чином, у книжці містяться інші варіанти подій, реальні і нереальні.
Група конспірологів з Землі, що вірять в існування Чарівниць, у своєму пошуку вийшли на контрабандиста Бланка, який саме вкрав книжку. Вимінявши в Бланка Книгу долі Кандракару на дві скріпки і чупа-чупс, компанія конспірологів вирішила піратським шляхом поширити знайдену інформацію про історії, яких не було.

Is the zine free?Yes! The digital version of the zine is available for free both in English and Ukrainian. However, remembering the original purpose of the zine, we encourage everyone to make a donation to the charity we've been cooperating with — the public organization "Zemlyachky".We also remind you that it is prohibited to distribute the zine or any of its part commercially.Is it possible to still order a physical copy or merch?No, unfortunately. We’ve had two physical releases, both in Ukrainian for the Ukrainian audience, and we are not planning any more, as it’s quite difficult to ship from Ukraine worldwide at the moment.What is the rating of the zine?Right from the first page you can notice the mark “18+”. We do not recommend the zine for underage readers. It contains mild NSFW romance content (all the characters involved in pairings are adult alternative versions of themselves), depictions of violence, death, blood, and other possible disturbing matters. You can check the contents at the end of the zine to find more about the topics, pretty much most of them correspond to their subtitles.Got any more questions?
